MARGARET Keyte triumphed in Brockington Hall’s September Medal after the top-three players each finished with the same nett.
Keyte won the event with 112-30-82, while Janet Parker (109-27-82) was second and Janet Mussell (118-36-82), third.
Mussell fired 35 points to win the club’s September Stableford from second-placed Shelagh Snell (33 points).
Lesley Furlong also played well and took third spot with a 31-point return.
Mussell also took the Valerie Powell Rosebowl in another tighly-contested event.
Mussell achieved a nett 78, while Keyte was the runner-up, on a countback, with a nett 79.
Cathy Scarlett had to settle for third position after she also finished with a nett 79.
q Pat Rhodes and Joan Curtis clinched the September Silver Vases competition at Burghill Valley GC.
The winning duo carded 96-24.4-71.8 and finished ahead of second-placed Judi Clark and Sally Thomas (106-27.8-78.2).
Vice-captain Sally Thomas won the All-Winners Trophy and Vicky Howells secured the best gross prize.
Nigel and Marilyn Howard won the gross award and the main honour in the club’s annual Mixed Championships, the Dixon Cup.
The Howards finished with a gross score of 84 in the foursomes’ event.
Andy Webb and Heather Burley were the nett winners with a score of 70, while Ray and Linda Bayliss were second with a nett 73.
Brian and Christine Barnard took third place in the nett competition with a return of 76.
The Mixed section’s annual meeting and dinner is taking place in the clubhouse at 7pm on Saturday, October 25.
q Gill Lloyd triumphed on the new nine-hole qualifying course at Kington GC.
The new course, at Bradnor Hill, has been set by the English Golf Union, for handicap purposes.
It takes in holes one, two, three, four, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 18.
Lloyd won the silver division, in the first competition on the course, with 16 points.
Janet Pennell was second with 15 points and third place went to Carolyn Jones (13 points).
Marion Weaver was first in the Bronze division after pipping Wendy Davies on a countback. Both players had carded 16 points.
Barbara Passey took third spot with 15 points.
Brenda and John Hoyle carried off the Coronation Cup in a hard-fought competition.
The Hoyles carded 43 points and pipped Anita Dart and George Smith, who also achieved 43 points, on a countback on the back nine.
Wendy and Keith Douglas were third on a countback from Margaret and Ray Kellard after both pairs scored 42 points.
Sherrie Hughes and Rob Pritchard fired 35 points to win the gross section of the competition.
Jim and Jenny Kelly were second on a countback from third-placed Angela Wilkes and Richard Gealy after each pair carded 27 points.
q Val Watts and Malcolm Thornton teamed up to win the Strong Trophy in Ross-on-Wye GC’s Annual Championship Finals and Presentation Day.
q Wendy Dullam carried off the Worcestershire Plate in a stableford competition at Sapey GC.
Dullam was the winner of the Division 2 section after carding 30 points.
Kate Hamilton, who also collected 30 points, won Division 1, while Ann Roberts fired 28 points to triumph in Division 3.
Tina Wooldridge clinched the Division 1 title in the club’s September Medal with a return of 73 points.
Sue Gwynn (69 points) won Division 2 and Ann Parry (87 points) took the top spot in Division 3.
In the Christine Guest Memorial Trophy, Margaret Leake won the Division 2 section and captured the top prize.
Caro Moore shot 32 points to claim the Division 1 title, with Leake’s 35 points giving her first place in Division 2.
Ann Parry was the winner in Division 3 with a return of 31 points.
