ONE of football’s more entertaining characters, Dave Bassett, is to be the guest speaker at Hereford United’s annual fundraising dinner at the Three Counties Hotel on November 13.
Bassett, who managed Wimbledon, Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, Watford, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley, Leicester City and Southampton, during a long and distinguished managerial career, has now moved into TV punditry and carved a niche for himself as one of the most entertaining speakers on the circuit.
His most recent visit to Hereford was last season as assistant manager of Leeds United but Bulls fans with long memories may recall him playing for Walton & Hersham in an FA Cup tie at Edgar Street back in the 1973-4 season.
Bassett will be supported by comedian Bob Webb.
Tickets for the event, priced at £35, are available from Hereford United’s club office, telephone 0844 2761939.
