Westfields 5 Rocester 1.
WESTFIELDS scored five second-half goals to record their second home Aspire Midland Alliance victory of the season.
The home side recovered from being 1-0 down at the break to give new manager John Layton his first league win.
Westfields fell behind in the 15th minute when Jon Pugh could only parry a Gary Beardsley shot and Ben Carr slammed home the rebound from six yards.
Rocester enjoyed the better of the first half and almost doubled their lead through Mark Hodson’s blistering drive which rattled a post.
The visitors were denied again before the interval when Ashley Day blocked a goal-bound effort.
Westfields looked much more composed in the second half and drew level through a Mark Hibbard penalty in the 47th minute after a foul on Paul Allam.
Westfields took the lead two minutes later when Jamie Edwards side-footed home Allam’s right-wing cross but Rocester hit back and forced a fine save from Pugh.
But the home side continued to create chances and extended their advantage after Mark Davis headed in Edwards’ cross to the far post.
Westfields were rampant and put the game beyond Rocester in the 75th minute when Davis chipped the visiting goalkeeper from 30 yards.
Substitute Matt Morris rounded off a memorable afternoon for Westfields, heading in the home side’s fifth goal.
