HEREFORDSHIRE Schools Under-14 produced a hard-working display in a 2-1 home win over Brierley Hill & Dudley in the West Midlands Schools League.
The county opened the scoring midway through the first half when Tom Parry (Kingstone) rifled home a 15-yard drive.
Centre-backs Calum Omelasz and Elliot Payne dealt with the visiting attacks before Herefordshire extended their advantage with five minutes left.
Rory Worthing’s cross eluded the visiting goalkeeper and John Davies tapped home to make the game safe for Herefordshire.
Brierley Hill, who had a goal disallowed for off-side, completed the scoring in stoppage-time.
Herefordshire Schools Under-13 also secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 success against Coventry Schools.
Keanu Barnett hit a second-half winner for Herefordshire who gave a much-improved performance.
David Tookey controlled Herefordshire’s midfield and Harvey Rivers impressed in defence.
