WELLINGTON have injury worries ahead of next Monday’s HFA County Challenge Cup final against holders Westfields at Edgar Street, kick-off 11am.
Forwards James Blake (ankle ligaments) and Wayne McNeil (hamstring) could be missing for Wellington’s big match.
A goal from Will Perkins could not stop Wellington from a 3-1 home defeat to bottom-club Bustleholme in the West Midlands League Premier Division on Tuesday.
Wellington manager Derek Williams says the villagers will need to play above themselves if they are to win the County Cup for the first time.
“We are playing the best amateur team in Hereford and they are an exceptional team,” he said. “Westfields are hot favourites - they are each time they reach the final.”
Higher-graded Westfields have won the County Cup nine times - one fewer than Kington Town and Hinton. They have lifted the trophy five times in the past seven years.
Second-half goals from Paul Allam and Mark Hibbard gave in-form Westfields a 2-0 home win over basement club Oldbury in the Aspire Midland Alliance on Tuesday.
Westfields manager John Layton said: “We have picked up a few injuries, so it’s a case of mixing and matching. It’s a cup final so the form book will go out of the window. Hopefully, the lads can play to the best of their abilities.”
