Chalfont Wasps 3 Pegasus Juniors 2.
A STRONG second-half fightback was not enough to secure any reward for Pegasus in their FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division visit to Chalfont.
After being three goals adrift at the break, Juniors came to the brink of gaining a point in injury time when Rob Laurie had a goal disallowed and Bobby Aldrich hit the bar with a fierce drive.
On their longest journey of the season, Pegasus fell behind after 10 minutes when Lee Thompson evaded a tackle on the edge of the area before sliding the ball past Stuart Turpin.
Fifteen minutes later, Chalfont doubled the score when Thompson ran through the Pegasus defence before hammering the ball past Turpin.
And Thompson claimed his hat-trick on the half-hour with a smart finish, although a home player appeared to be in an offside position at the time.
Six minutes into the second period, Pegasus began their fight back when Aldrich headed home an Anthony Robbins free-kick.
And then, with five minutes remaining, Juniors cut the deficit to a single goal when Simon Gwynne raced on to a Ben Price pass to fire a second goal past keeper Jack Shillitoe.
l On Monday, Pegasus completed a disappointing weekend with a 2-0 defeat at Flackwell Heath.
