JENNY Thornton pipped Rosie Price on a countback to win the Little Weston Shield competition at Ross-on-Wye GC.
Thornton and Price scored a nett 70 and third place went to Shan Powell (nett 71).
There was a blanket finish in the Kit Kat Cup qualifier. Jan Armstrong took first place, Jose Wilson, second, and Katie Greenwood, third, after all shot 39 points.
The trio will be joined in the Kit Kat Cup at South Cerney in September by clubmates Helen Palmer, Jackie Wheatstone and Dinah Johnston.
q Angela Wilkes won the Silver Division of Kington GC’s EWGA Medal after carding 85-15-70.
Ladies’ captain Kate Block also played well and was the runner-up with 94-19-75.
Enid Crowe took first place in the Bronze Division with 97-28-69, while Anne Hitchcox (101-28-73) was second.
Betty Ashworth and Wendy Douglas scored a nett 62.5 to take first place in the Coronation Foursomes.
Gill Lloyd and Audrey Fox were second with a nett 66.5 while Wendy Priday and Kate Block (nett 69.5) were third.
q Caroline Charles took the top spot in the April Medal at Belmont GC with 98-21-77.
Ann Ball was the runner-up after shooting 108-29-79.
Ann Ball clinched the March Medal at Belmont GC after shooting 110-29-81. Angela Jakes (124-36-88) finished in second place. Jennifer Gladwyn won both the Winter League and Winter Eclectic.
q Carol Rudd and Mike Privett won the sixth round of the Mixed Winter Greensomes at Leominster GC.
Rudd and Privett collected 42 points, while Pauline and Terry Webb were second with 40 points.
Gillian Sandell and Greg Bridges (153 points) topped the board for the final scores (best four scores). Rudd and Privett (139 points) were second and the Webb duo third after totalling 136.
M McGoran, with 36 points, carried off the top prize in the 18-hole Gavin Nicol competition. P Gibbons was the runner-up with 34 points.
q A total of £800 was raised at a nine-hole competition and fashion show held by Burghill Valley GC lady captain Sally Thomas.
Leominster’s Bette Hinchliffe won the front nine and Burghill’s Doreen Pomroy triumphed on the back nine.
The proceeds from the Charity Day will be given to The Little Princesses Trust.
John and Ann Oldman won the mixed section’s local round of the Bader Cup. The Oldmans saw off the challenge from Paddy and Rita Morris, who were runners-up, and will represent Burghill at the regional final at Bransford in July.
q New member Fiona Mowbray won the new captain’s 13-hole drive-in at The Herefordshire GC.
The Breast Cancer Haven Trust in Hereford is the chosen charity for both the club captain and lady captain, Viv Griffiths.
Sue Mawby, playing with Sarah Griffiths, beat Burghill Valley’s Joan Dukes and Rosie Cole in the first round of the Daily Mail foursomes.
Karen Darby carried off The Coronation Club foursomes after totalling 37 points. Sarah Griffiths was the runner-up.
Herefordshire Ladies have made a flying start to the season with a 4½ to ½ home win over Kington and a 3-1 away success at Ross-on-Wye.
