SCOTT Moran had to settle for second spot in both British Hill Climb Championship rounds at Prescott.
The Orleton driver qualified fastest but could not maintain his form in the run-offs.
Martin Groves won the morning session with a 37.14 seconds drive over the twisting Gloucestershire course. Scott was runner up on 37.45 and his father, Roger, took fifth with 38.47. Yarkhill driver Deryk Young was seventh on 38.83. And it was Groves who took the win in the afternnoon run-off, stopping the clocks at 37.02. Scott was second with 37.50 and Young was sixth on 38.64.
Luston racer Dave Wilson broke the 2000cc Roadgoing sports class record on his way to winning the category with a 45.43 shot. Joy Hoyle, from Bromyard, shared the driver in Wilson’s Caterham and took third in class with 46.47.
