ARNIE Hurds came out on top when Woolaston Court, overlooking the Severn Estuary, was the venue for Hereford Fly Fishing Club’s second outing this year.
After a chilly start the weather brightened and good sport was had by most of the anglers.
The competition was won by Hurds with four fish for 13lb 2oz followed by John Cameron with 10lb 4oz.
Ryan Prosser, a junior member of the Hereford Fly Fishing Club, won the club’s first boat fishing contest of the year at Llandegfedd Reservoir.
His winning bag of six trout weighed in at 11lb 14oz topped by an impressive rainbow trout of 3lb 4oz.
Joint second in the competition were Jason Furnival and Ian Peberdy.
There was an impressive turnout of 31 members and excellent sport was had by nearly everyone Anyone interested in fly fishing and who would like to join the club should contact Bob Jones on Hereford 358517.
