HOLDERS Ross-on-Wye booked their place in Sunday’s North Midlands Vase final at Stourbridge after a narrow 13-9 win at Yardley & District.
An early penalty from Chay Brine put Ross in front and then a try from Tara Barnett, which Brine converted, gave the visitors a 10-0 cushion.
Yardley registered their first points from a penalty before the break and then closed the gap to 10-9 with two further penalties.
But Brine completed the scoring with his second penalty-kick on the hour.
The Ross players’ and supporters bus will be leaving for Stourbridge RFC at 10.30am on Sunday.
Ross will meet Evesham who secured a 31-7 home win over Greyhound in Saturday’s other semi-final.
Greyhound’s try was scored in the first half by Jamie Gibbons who crashed over after quick ball from scrum-half Chris Morris.
Tom Bates kicked the conversion for Greyhound who trailed 19-7 at the interval.
The match was emotional for Greyhound stalwart Liz Peel who has now stepped down from her duties at the Hereford club.
