A FINE innings of 99 by Daniel Bassett helped Herefordshire recover from their battering the previous week with a comfortable seven-wicket win over Devon at Colwall.
After dismissing the visitors for 184, Herefordshire were given an excellent start in reply by Bassett and veteran Harshad Patel who compiled 111 for the first wicket.
Bassett, who was particularly strong straight and through the leg side, clattered 11 fours and five sixes before falling to a run out just one short of his century.
Huw Jones (39 not out) then guided Herefordshire home.
Earlier, Devon had looked set for a big score when they raced to 60 off the first 11 overs.
But the arrival into the attack of Brockhampton duo, skipper Chris Boroughs (4-34) and Richard Parker (2-26), slowed the scoring rate and started a collapse which saw the visitors collapse to 130-8 before a late rally brought them some respectability.
