THE two-day Radnor and West Hereford Hunt point-to-point meeting at Cold Harbour over the Bank Holiday saw a feast of racing.
Racegoers were treated to a number of close finishes and saw title-chasing jockeys Dave Mansell and Richard Burton in action with Mansell aslo taking the meeting’s main race.
In the four-mile Crudwell Cup men’s Open race, the concluding leg of the Brightwell Order of Excellence series, it was Mansell aboard the odds-on favourite Bowdens Lane who took the race by half-a-length from the gallant runner-up Hoh Nelson.
With it he secured a joint share of the overall Excellence trophy with Distant Thunder, both finishing at the top of the standings after the 14-race series.
Most popular winner of the two days was that of Brimfield-based Tina Timbrell aboard Howard Howard for trainer Steve Flook in the PPORA Novice riders event.
West Country raider Thistatantother had been sent off a warm odds-on favourite and seemed to have the race in safe keeping when six lengths clear only to duck out at the final fence, causing the chasing Absolutely Barking to shy away.
This left Tina Timbrell to steer Howard Howard away from the melee and hold on strongly to record her first win on only her third ride.
