STEVE Chambers and Tony Best won the Times Trophy, a pairs’ aggregate competition at The Herefordshire GC.

Chambers and Best took the top spot with a nett 283, while Roy Joshua and John Walters were second with a nett 287.

Wyn Owen and Nigel Winney were a further shot back and secured third place on a countback from three other pairings.

Will Weaver carried off the Bill Bullock Trophy after firing 43 stableford points.

Lyn Granger (40 points) was second and, a further point back, was third-placed Will Skinner.

The trophy was presented by the family of the late Bill Bullock, a former captain of the club and president of the Shropshire and Herefordshire Union of Golf Clubs.

Club president Ian McIntosh, with 39 points, won the low handicap section of a Midweek Stableford event.

Keith Williams (38 points) was second and Peter Griffiths secured third spot with a return of 37 points.

Brian Lycett carded 40 points to triumph in the high-handicap section from juniors Glenn Segust and Sam Wood who totalled 38 points.

The Herefordshire GC seniors chalked up a comfortable 6½ to 1½ home win over Burghill Valley GC.

D Brown, with 38 points, won the low handicap section of a Tuesday Stableford and B Reed, the high handicap category.

q Andy Passman triumphed, on a countback, in Division 1 of Burghill Valley GC’s men’s medal.

Passman secured the top prize from second-placed Darren Godsall after both players returned a nett 68.

Carl Rose recorded the lowest gross honour after shooting 75.

Curt Green clinched the Division 2 title with a superb nett 63.

Eamon Croft finished second and third place went to Rob Green. Alan Silcox claimed the lowest gross with 84.

Bill Lewis took the lowest gross with a nett 89.

Nick Previte (93-26-67) achieved the top honour in Division 2, finshing nine shots clear of his nearest rival.

Paul Baker (104-28-76) finished second and David Bateman took third place after shooting 100-23-77.

q Peter Kelly, with 41 points, won the Division 1 title in the opening event of Kington GC seniors’ Summer League.

Phil Gould was second with 39 points and Dave Haley was third with 37 points.

Tony Stokes fired 42 points to top Division 2 from second-placed George Farr (40 points) and third-placed Neil Barrington (37 points).

The seniors’ team’s run of good results took a tumble when they suffered a 4½ games to 1½ home defeat to The Rolls of Monmouth.

Ron Davies-Jones carded 38 points to win the seniors’ away day at Leominster GC.

Neil Warrington was second, with 32 points, and Paul England secured third spot on a countback from Joe James after both fired 31 points.

Davies-Jones, Chris Scott, Dick Lee and Joe James won the overall team prize with 114 points.

Gary Moore took the overall top prize in the Harpton Cup with a splendid return of 74-11-63.

Rob Pritchard (71-8-63) won Division 1, while Lee Wilson (74-6-68) was second.

Owen Morgan (74-14-64) topped Division 2 from second-placed Jeremy Ashford (79-13-66).

Roy Taylor (89-23-66) triumphed in Division 3 from second-placed Luke Turner (92-25-67).

q In-form John Drain carried off Cradoc GC’s Farmers’ Bowl in aid of the Wales Air Ambulance.

Drain (74-6-68) won the competition from Yubaraj Garbuja (83-13-70) and Roger Jones (80-9-71).

The club’s Wayfarers started their 2009 campaign with an away defeat to Blackwood but the Halletts continued their good form with a 2½ to 1½ win at Parc GC.

Cradoc seniors crashed to a 6 matches to 2 defeat at Brecon in their latest match.

q Josh Adams lifted the Gordon Blake Cup at Ross-on-Wye GC after a nett 70 round.

Neil Lancett was the runner-up in Handicap Division 1 from third-placed Nick Harris after both players carded a nett 72.

Peter Shaw, with a nett 71, won Handicap Division 2 from Peter Smith and Bill Knapper who each scored a nett 72.

Ross Seniors halved their home with Lilley Brook after both teams scored four points in an entertaining match.

q Kevin Gibbons and Ben Clarke (60) won the Richard Jordan Cup at Leominster GC.

Alan Griffiths and Julian Burton (63) were second and third place went to Edward Jones and W Harris (64).

q Nick Hemming carried off the Stableford Cup at Belmont GC after totalling 41 points.

Terry Thomas topped the 0-14 handicap section of the April Medal with a return of 83-12-71.

Eric Mayers (87-15-72) won the 15-28 handicap section.

John Alexander triumphed in the Stableford, on a countback, after a haul of 36 points.

Des Samuel (36 points) was second and Dennis Pritchard was third with 35 points.
