WINGER Morgan Goodall scored 20 points in Hereford 2nd’s 30-19 win over Harper Adams College in the final of the Luctonians Floodlit Cup.
The Wyesiders’ third successive Floodlit Cup triumph was a fitting tribute to coach Peter Archer who is stepping down after four seasons in charge.
Hereford got off to an excellent start and Goodall laid the platform with three penalties inside the opening 20 minutes.
Alex Kelso crashed over for a try which Goodall converted late in the first half to give Hereford a 16-7 interval lead.
Ben Adams scored Hereford’s second try, which Goodall converted, after an excellent break by Simon Sabel but the students hit back with two touchdowns.
Hereford held firm and sealed another triumph at Mortimer Park when Sean Day and Owen Root combined for Goodall to score a late converted try.
Luctonians romped to a 50-0 success over Bromsgrove in the North Midlands Under-19 Plate final at Kings Norton.
The referee brought the one-sided final to an end after just 50 minutes. Dan Ruell and Louis Silver both bagged a brace of tries for the Herefordshire outfit.
Dan Smith, Craig Hossack, Alex Homden and Drew Cheshire also scored tries, while Will Hodnett kicked five conversions.
Matt Holcombe gave a man-of-the-match display in Luctonians’ 41-12 victory over Sutton Coldfield in the North Midlands Under-16 Plate final.
Matt Kirk, who kicked three conversions, and full-back Luke Bagnall shone for Luctonians who led 31-7 at the break.
Bagnall and Will Burton each scored two tries, while Jake Cheshire, Owen Davies and Will Granger also touched down.
