BROCKHAMPTON prevailed in a tight finish to claim their second win in two outings in Division 2 of the Birmingham and District Premier League at Cannock.

They bowled the home side out for 218 off the final ball of the innings and then sneaked over the line with two wickets in hand, and just one ball to spare, after rain had robbed them of two overs.

Cannock were quick out of the blocks through Australian opener Michael Talbot (32), but after Richie Parker removed him, plus his partner, in the same over the run-rate dropped.

David Womble (92) proved to be the main stumbling block.

Parker (4-42), Chris Boroughs (3-68) and Owen Price (2-54) kept a tight rein on the rest, and keeper Nick Price played a big part, claiming five victims.

The early Brockhampton batsmen, Ashley Nahorniak (26), Ben Stebbings (43), Boroughs (66) and Jonny Walker (20) appeared to have secured a winning position, but then a flurry of wickets left Henry Langford (51no) to steer the side home along with the tail.

After their mauling on the opening day of the season, Eastnor turned in a much better display at Studley in Division 3. Chasing the home side’s first innings total of 225-5 they were in with a chance of securing their first win at the mid-innings drinks interval, but a middle order collapse left them having to settle for a losing draw on 184-8.

Mark Lewis (63) and Omaad Nazir (79no) scored the bulk of Studley’s runs but a tight opening spell from Adeel and miserly bowling from skipper Jabran (2-24 off 14 overs) held the scoring rate in check.

Raza (25) and Adeel (25) helped newcomer Clive Chadhani (76) to keep the visitors in the game, but once they were dismissed, the victory charge petered out.
