THE Herefordshire Schools Football Association Football League has concluded after a host of postponements over the past few months.
After dominating the U14 City/South pool, St Mary’s eased past Tenbury 6-1 in the semi-final, where they met Whitecross, who edged out North pool winners Minster College on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
St Mary’s sneaked a 1-0 win to claim the trophy at Westfields’ allpay.park ground.
In the U16 competition, North pool winners QE Bromyard were thrashed 5-1 by Aylestone in their semi, while City/South winners Whitecross repeated the success of their U14 side by also reaching the final after a 2-1 win over Wigmore High School.
However, Aylestone picked up the EM Davies Shield after a 1-0 win hosted by Bartestree FC.
In the U12 competition, Minster got the better of City/South runners up St Marys in their semi-final clash, and Weobley beat Whitecross on penalties to set up a clash between the two at Wellington FC.
Weobley took an early lead but were pegged back by Minster in the second half. In extra time, Minster added another goal and held on to win the cup.
The U13 final saw North group winners Aylestone face runners-up John Kyrle, after both sides made the final after beating Bishop’s and Minster respectively. Aylestone ran out 3-0 winners in a one-sided final.
In the U15 tournament, Lady Hawkins knocked out Hereford Academy in their semi-final to set up a clash with John Kyrle who beat Minster to reach the final.
In a high-scoring affair at allpay.park, John Kyrle won 5-2 to collect the John Thexton Cup.
