MARY Palmer and John Hebdon carried off the well-supported Annual Anniversary Rose Bowl at Ross-on-Wye GC.
Palmer and Hebdon shot a winning tally of 35 points in the mixed foursomes competition.
Dennis Laird and Nick Swan were the runners-up, on a countback, from Gillian Clouder and Cec Wheatstone. Both pairs fired 33 points.
Christine Baldwin achieved a hole-in-one in her first competition at Ross.
She achieved the feat at the seventh hole in a Bowmaker competition.
Jean Ovens, Frances Nightingale and Sylvia Parker won the event after shooting 75 points.
Jan Armstrong, Anne McArthur and Jane Teague were second on a countback from Janet Hyndman, Sheila Curtis and Do Godshall after both teams carded 74 points.
Jane Powles won the May 2 competition at Leominster GC after carding 91-16-75.
Wendy Lane (98-22-76) was second on a countback from Liz Moore (112-36-76).
Gillian Sandell and Mike Privett triumphed, with 33 points, in the John Morris Mixed Foursomes.
Pauline Webb and Mark Lane were second on a countback from Jane Powles and Greg Bridges after both pairs shot 30 points.
Herefordshire GC suffered their first loss of the season, going down to the Worcestershire at Malvern.
Jennifer and Colin Gladwyn (41 points) topped the list in Belmont GC’s Bader Cup qualifier.
Hilary Hall and Colin Tolley (38 points) were the runners-up in the mixed foursomes event.
Lesley Furlong carded 33 points to win the April Stableford at Brockington Hall GC. Janet Mussell was second with 32 points, while Mary Parker was third with 31 points.
Shelagh Snell took top spot in the 30-and-over handicap section of the ladies’ away day at Cadmore Lodge.
Margaret Keyte was the winner of the 29-and-under handicap section.
The ladies recorded a 3-1 home win over The Grove in their first match of the campaign.
