HEREFORD United have acted swiftly to allay fears of a major upheaval at the Bulls’ Vice-Presidents’ Club following the resignation of chairman Veronica Richardson.

“There will be no change for members and the objectives of the club will be the same as they were before,” said chairman Graham Turner.

“It is just that the organisation of the bar and the door will come under the auspices of the football club.

“Veronica has done an excellent job and we want to ensure that the good business practices that she has put in place continue.

“It is difficult to ask anyone who has paid a fee to be a member to then be involved in all the matchday duties that Veronica was involved in and she seemed to have stopped enjoying her football.

“We have called a meeting for June 1 to answer any queries that any members may have.”

Meanwhile, youngsters Joel Edwards and Tyler Weir have signed their first professional contracts with the club and other signings are expected once boss John Trewick returns from holiday tomorrow (Friday).

Home pre-season friendlies have been announced with Bristol City (July 13), Bristol Rovers (July 25) and Wolves (July 28), while there will be a trip to Kidderminster on July 21.

Former Bulls Chris Hargreaves and Tim Sills fired Torquay back into the Football League with the goals in a 2-0 Blue Square play-off win over Cambridge.

Hargreaves played in the final game of Hereford’s first league spell and Sills in the opening game of the second spell.
