HEREFORD Fly Fishers’ latest trip was to the beautiful Blagdon reservoir, south of Bristol. It is a 400 acre lake and was the first commercial trout fishery to be opened in Great Britain.

Conditions proved to be very difficult and the 14 anglers only managed to catch 23 trout between them with several returning blanks.

However, Harley Godsall did exceptionally well and managed to find them and returned the only limit bag of eight fish. Second was Ian Peberdy with four fish. Best fish of the day was a fine 3lb specimen caught by Pete Wesson.

Charles Jardine, a nationally and internationally famous writer, fisherman and guide will be making a presentation on small water tactics at the next meeting on June 8 starting at 7.30pm. Prospective new members would be welcome to attend.
