FRANKY Reid-Warrilow has enjoyed an early season success by winning the Novice section of British Eventing by seven marks.
The Presteigne teenager finished on her dressage score of 28 riding her long-standing horse Dolley Rodney, and that win comes on the back of impressive rides at the Gatcombe Horse Trials and the Open Intermediate at Weston Park in the past two months.
Franky has been representing Great Britain since she was 14, and now she aims to try and move into making a career from her sport by starting her own equine business on her parents’ yard in Presteigne.
She said: “It’s going really well. I left school in July after my A-Levels and decided I wasn’t going to go to university so I’m trying it out.
“Eventing doesn’t make much money so it’s being funded by schooling, selling and breaking horses and I’ve also done some advertising.
Winning competitions helps too.”
The talented eventer has now set her sights on competing for her country at a higher level, with ambitious goals set for the future.
She added: “Short term I’ve got one horse that I’m taking to the British U21 Championship at Weston Park, and looking a bit further long term I’d like to be on the Young Riders team representing Great Britain in two years.
“I’d also like to go to Badminton in the future but my main aim is to represent Great Britain at senior level.”
