POPULAR goalkeeper Wayne Brown is hoping to secure a new deal in Hereford, writes IAN MORGAN.
The former Hereford United stopper returned to the city last weekend.
He is interested in taking over the lease of the vacant premises in St Owen Street which was Charlotte’s Bar and Bistro.
“I know that it has been empty for a while and we went down on Saturday to see it,” said Brown, who is now playing for Bury.
“I had a nice time when I was playing in Hereford and Charlotte’s was somewhere that I always enjoyed going to.
“I am interested in taking over the lease and rebranding it. But there are a few other people interested.
“I think it would be a case of furnishing it and getting a good chef.
“If I was living in Hereford, I would run it. But I would need to appoint a bar manager because I am living in Manchester which is a long way from Hereford.”
He added: “We also had a look at the Left Bank but I think that’s too big for me.”
Brown spent three successful years at Edgar Street before joining Bury on a two-year deal in June 2008.
He has been linked with a move back to the Bulls who need a goalkeeper for next season.
“I don’t know what has happened there because I am a Bury player and the manager has looked after me very well,” he said.
Brown says he hopes to continue his playing career for another six or seven years.
