BROCKHAMPTON completed two contrasting, but comprehensive, wins over their closest rivals at the weekend, and have opened up a 38-point lead at the top of the Second Division of the Birmingham and District Premier League.

On Saturday they romped home by seven wickets at Water Orton after bowling the home side out for 168.

For the second game running, Ben Stebbings batted throughout the innings, scoring an unbeaten 80 despite picking up an injury midway through his knock.

Brockhampton batted first against visiting Wombourne on Monday and posted a formidable total of 279-8 and then bowled Wombourne out for just 89 to win by the huge margin of 190 runs.

Ashley Nahorniak (98) gave the innings a sound start, but it was skipper Jonny Walker (72 off 45 balls) who provided the fireworks.

Richard Parker, Chris Boroughs and Adam Hewlett shared the wickets, as they had done on Saturday.

Eastnor are finding life tough in Division 3, losing both of their weekend games despite being well placed at the halfway stage.

They lost a low-scoring game by 29 runs at home to Bridgnorth on Saturday. Shahid (8-39) produced an excellent spell of bowling to dismiss the Shropshire side for just 96. Raza (18) and Shahid (14) were the only two batsmen to reach double figures as they were bowled out for 67.

Eastnor bowled well again at Lichfield on Monday, with a late flourish taking the home side up to 189-7 at the end of their 55 overs.

Despite a number of players reaching double figures, Eastnor's batting struggled again and, at 102-8, they looked to be out of contention.

Faisal (48 no) gave them hope, but the final wicket went down at 171, 18 runs short of their target.
