HOME players dominated the honours board at Burghill Valley GC’s open competition.
Dexter Murgatroyd claimed top spot with a nett 66 and Paul Cresswell was two shots behind with a nett 68.
Carl Rose shot the lowest gross with 72 followed by Paul Moses (75) and St Pierre’s John Moody (75) was third.
Results: 1 Dexter Murgatroyd (75-9-66), 2 Paul Cresswell (81-13-68), 3 John Potter (87-18-69).
q There was a three-way tie in the 10-strong Rolex Tour in the Costa De Sol.
Reigning champion Mark Williams (Herefordshire GC) tied with Clifford Evans (Burghill Valley GC) and Noel Downes (Burghill Valley GC).
After all the Stableford points were added up, the trio shared the championship.
Mick Williams won the opening day’s Stableford competition at Lauro Golf Course with Mark Williams, second, and Downes, third.
Alan Dunsford (Burghill Valley) won the second day at Mijas GC on the beautiful Los Lagos course.
Mark Williams triumphed, on a countback, from Noel Downes on the third day at Anoreta GC.
Evans won the fourth and final day at the Spanish Championship Golf Course at Malaga.
q Nigel Moore (38 points) took the top honour from Monty Lowe on a countback in Luctonians Golf Society’s trip to Builth Wells GC.
Dennis Mills also played well and finished third with a 36-point return.
Rhys Crane (19 points) won the front-nine prize and Martin Doe (17 points), the back-nine honour.
Dudley Cleland finished nearest the pin.
q R Arrowsmith clinched the Division 1 title in Leominster GC seniors’ May medal.
Arrowsmith (80-10-70) triumphed from second-placed Richard Cattermole (80-7-73) and third-placed David O’Dowd (87-13-74).
John Hunt (89-17-72) won Division 2 on a countback from Basil Lewis (90-18-72), while Phil Samuel (90-17-73) finished third.
Peter Foster (95-24-71) topped Division 3 from second-placed Lawson Gardner (96-21-75) and third-placed Charlie Tune (104-28-76).
q Paul Fisher (40 points) secured first place in Division 1 of The Herefordshire GC’s Midweek Stableford.
John Hayward (39 points) was second and third place went to John Lewthwaite (39 points).
Lee Haase (42 points) topped Division 2 from second-placed Kevin Baylis (41 points) and third-placed Nigel Yarwood (41 points).
q Stewart Thomson, Dave Woodhouse and Rory James (32-4.8-27.2) carried off the top prize in the May Texas Scramble at Kingstone High School Golf Society.
Luke Jones, Dan Gray and Lee Hince (32-4-28) were second and third spot went to James Johnson, Sam Cockman and Bill Cockman (32-3.8-28.2).
q Shaun Matthews clinched Cradoc GC’s Inaugural Cup, donated by Ben and Florence Harries to mark their captaincies in 1977 and 1978.
Matthews secured first place with 40 points and was followed, just one point behind, by Simon Williams, Adam Stevens, Darren Smith and Robert Evans.
Cradoc men returned to winning ways with a narrow home success, by 3½ matches to 2½, over Builth Wells.
A team of Wayne Gittoes, Brian Evans, Dai Lewis and M Jones won the club’s Texas Scramble.
Barry Griffiths, Nick Powell, Richard Patterson and Michael Powell were second in the 15-team event.
Tony Payne (82-11-71) prevailed in the club’s Midweek Medal from second-placed Gareth Powell (74-2-72) and third-placed Brian Nelson (84-12-72).
Cradoc seniors suffered a two matches to one defeat at Neath A in the first round of the South Wales Seniors’ Classic Cup.
They also went down by four matches to two in their home match against the Rolls of Monmouth.
