AN OUTSTANDING all-round display from Malvern’s Adam Dovey prevented Bromyard from overcoming the bottom club in Division 1 of the Crusader Worcestershire County League.

Dovey took a hat-trick and finished with 5-89 as Bromyard posted 248-9 at Flaggoners Green.

Jeremy Leighton (52), captain Zahid Saeed (48 not out) and Edd Oliver (47) were the leading run-makers for the north Herefordshire side.

Dovey then opened the batting and held the Malvern innings together with a stubborn 84 not out as the visitors closed on 196-7 to secure a losing-draw.

Sri Lankan leg-spinner Lakshan Rodrigo bagged 3-68 on his league debut.

Ben Wheeler cracked a whirlwind 94 from just 50 balls in Colwall’s emphatic 127-run win over Coombs Wood at Stowe Lane.

Mike King (57) and Nick Panniers (30) had got Colwall’s innings off to an excellent start before Odge Davey (47) and Wheeler provided the fireworks.

Wheeler crashed 11 fours and four sixes in his destructive knock which propelled fourth-placed Colwall to 313-8.

Coombs Wood were undone by left-arm spinner Charlie Griffiths (5-42) and were shot out for 186 in the 47th over.

Monmouth are fourth from bottom in Division 2 after a losing-draw in a high-scoring match at Pedmore.

Danny McDonnell battered the Monmouth attack for 76 and veteran Kevin Trusswell made 53 in Pedmore’s 265 all out.

Paul Swingwood (5-56) was the pick of the Monmouth bowlers and was backed up by Aled Jones (2-55) and Jonathan Roberts (2-71).

Monmouth slipped to 100-5 and looked in danger of defeat. However, Andy McGuire (75 not out) joined David Croudace (78 not out) for an unbroken sixth-wicket stand and Monmouth finished on 241-5.

Burghill & Tillington opener Ed Oliver struck an excellent 135 in their formidable 360-3 against visiting Stourbridge 3rd in Division 3.

Kingsley Morris (77 not out) and Owen Morgan (56) also shone for the Herefordshire side on a superb batting pitch at Brick House Farm.

But the West Midlands club’s batsmen also found the track to their liking and, with Krishna making 73 and Butt, 53, not out, Stourbridge replied with 304-6.

Burghill had to settle for a winning draw and are third in the division, seven points adrift of table-topping Rushwick.

Wormelow are just one place below their Herefordshire rivals after a Tim Boulter century helped the villagers to a nine-wicket hammering of Kidderminster Victoria.

Shaun Waldron (2-28) and Chris Powell (2-32) bowled well to restrict the home side to 186-9.

Boulter (106) led the way for Wormelow with 16 fours and two sixes and, with support from Powell (55 not out), Wormelow romped home in the 33rd over.
