KINGTON moved to the top of the Tarmac League table with a three-shot home victory over St Martin's.
The match was as tight as the final score suggests as the lead switched between the clubs as the game progressed to the last ends.
On the last rink to finish, St Martin's needed three shots from the last two ends to take the match, but each club took one end with Kington gaining the extra shot to take match points.
The four rinks were, however, shared with Kington taking two by six and four shots and St Martin's winning the other two by four and three shots.
Llandrindod slip to second place with a surprise defeat to bottom-club Kingsland who recorded their first win of the season at the fourth attempt.
Kingsland were up against it on the Llandrindod green as three rinks were won by the home club. But a magnificent effort by their four skipped by Sandra Palmer pulled off a 27-12 win that turned the match on its head and produced a two-shot win for the visitors.
RESULTS: Kington 80 St Martin's 77 (Home rinks W2 D0 L2); Llandrindod Wells 75 Kingsland 77 (W3 D0 L1); Leominster 78 Weobley 65 (W4 D0 L0).
