JANET Pennell and Lorraine Bowen won a fourball betterball competition at Kington GC.
They pipped second-placed Anita Dart and Angela Wilkes on a countback after both pairs scored a nett 71.
Wendy Priday and Philippa Frost secured third spot with a nett 73.
Dart and Frost had been in action a few days earlier and secured a 4 & 2 win at Ombersley in the third round of the Mail on Sunday competition.
A mixed Kington team suffered a disappointing 6 games to 2 defeat at Condover.
q Glynne Hall and James Cooke shot 74-8-66 to win the 18-hole Armitage Times event at The Herefordshire GC.
Jane and Barry Spink were second after shooting 87-19.5-67.5. Karen and Roger Darby (84-12-72) were third on countback from Anne Goodwin and David Williams (89-17-72).
Sally Meek and Mike Symonds, from The Monmouthshire, triumphed in the club’s Mixed Open which attracted a field of 128 players. Meek and Symonds totalled 44 stableford points and were one point ahead of Kington’s Margaret and Ray Kellard.
The Herefordshire’s Jeanette and Gary Duncalfe were third, a further point adrift.
Jeanette and Richard Williams were the clear winners, with 35 points, in the gross competition. Sarah Powell and Rhodri Thomas (Summerhill) were second, while third place went to Sheila Hatheralll and Mike Pagett (South Herefordshire).
Emma Harris carded a nett 76 to secure first place in the ladies’ latest Medal Competition. J Allman, with 84, finished in second position.
q Kay Cotton, with a nett 73, carried off the monthly medal and the veterans’ trophy in difficult weather conditions at Ross-on-Wye GC.
Pam Duke topped Division 1 with a nett 75, while Kerry Welding (nett 77) was second and third place went to Sheila Lawrence (nett 79).
Cotton (nett 73) triumphed in Division 2 from second-placed Carol Malim (nett 75) and third-placed Pauline Talty (nett 77). Helen Palmer won the gross award.
Judith Landau and Frances Nightingale, with 38 points, topped the H&J Salver Greensomes and County Greensomes.
Jean Ovens and Ellie Peake (37 points) were second, while Margaret Ellis and Debbie Woods (34 points) finished in third spot. Ellis and Woods also won County Foursomes. Di Honey and Audrey Causon were second on countback.
