WELLINGTON skipper Dale Withers scooped the first-team Player of the Year award for the fourth successive year.

The defender picked up the prize in front of more than 130 people at Wellington’s end-of-season awards evening at the village hall.

He has now carried off the honour five times and made the most first-team appearances in Wellington’s memorable season.

The villagers finished sixth in the FTL Futbol West Midlands League Premier Division and won the HFA County Challenge Cup for the first time.

Wellington clinched the HFA Giantkillers’ Under-18 Cup after a 3-2 win over Hereford United, while their Colts won the HFA Junior Cup.

Meanwhile, Mark Jarvis has been appointed as the new assistant-manager of Wellington’s first team.

Luke Johnston will be returning to Wellington to become the new assistant-manager of the club’s Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division side.

Pre-season training starts on July 7 and friendlies have been arranged against Hereford United (home), Fairford Town (away) and Rhayader Town (home).
