WESTSIDE avenged an early season defeat by Willenhall Wanderers when they gained a 46-30 success in the West Midlands Netball League Division Two.

The last time these two teams met, Westside squandered a nine-goal lead but made no mistake on this occasion with a confident all-round display.

The first quarter was closely fought, going almost goal for goal.

Westside’s attack was fast and furious with Sophie Wright at C, Stacey Barker at WA, Sarah Phillips at GA and Katie Parkes at GS.

The new combination worked well against a dominant and physical defence.

At the other end, Steph Snowzell GD, Debbie Bowdley GK and Lauren Hall WD, worked in unison to force mistakes and turn over the ball.

In the second quarter, Westide started to make an advance on the Willenhall- based team with player-of-the-match Phillips shooting successfully from all over the ‘D’.

At half-time, Westside led by five and made no changes in their determination not to make the same mistake as last time.

Wanderers applied more and more pressure but Westside’s defence and attack stayed focused as they moved to a six-goal lead at 3/4 time.

In the last quarter, Bowdley and Snowzell were getting the better of both shooters to turn over a lot of balls.

Meanwhile, Phillips remained completely on form in the shooting circle assisted by some great positional play from Parkes, Wright and Barker as the lead was then stretched to 16 goals.

The win moves Westside joint second in the table.
