Studley 0 Westfields 2 WESTFIELDS have moved up to 16th place in the Polymac Services Midland Alliance table after gaining their first away victory of the season.

The city side turned in a much-improved performance with outstanding displays at the back from Jon Hill and Scott Jackson helping them to keep a welcome clean sheet.

Westfields made a promising start with Mark Davis seeing a shot scrambled away for a corner and Ashley Day sending a first-time volley narrowly over the bar.

Paul Burton also went close but the home side also had their moments with goalkeeper Jon Pugh forced to bring off an excellent save from Adam Blake.

Scott Jackson and Mark Hibbard also went close before the interval but Westfields' continuing pressure finally received its reward 14 minutes into the second period when Jackson put Burton clear on the right and the veteran striker held off a challenge before crossing for Davis to net from close range.

Two fine tackles from Hill prevented Studley from getting back into the game before the visitors wrapped up their win eight minutes from time.

Home goalkeeper Rob Watson pulled off a fine save from a powerful drive by Davis but Polish full-back Lukarz Jobda was on hand to smash home the rebound and claim his first goal for the club.
