Almondsbury Town 3 Pegasus Juniors 2 MISSED chances cost Pegasus the chance of bringing home at least a point from their visit to the Sport Italia Hellenic League Premier Division leaders.

Dave Hart's free-kick clipped the outside of a post and Rob Laurie headed wide when a goal seemed certain in the early stages.

Pegasus found themselves out of luck again when a Liam Jones free-kick came back off the woodwork with goalkeeper Andy King beaten.

A brilliant save from Jamie Hales in the Pegasus goal prevented Brad Andrews from opening the scoring but the keeper was left helpless in the 32nd minute when Ben Pope headed in an inswinging corner.

Justin Bishop seized on a loose ball to fire in the second eight minutes later.

Ben Price raced on to a Martin Kalista pass to reduce arrears early in the second period but the Almonds were quickly two goals to the good again when Adam Cole shot home through a crowd of players.

Pegasus, however, continued to play the better football and pulled another goal back on the hour when Laurie headed down a Lewis Jones cross for Dave Griffiths to rifle the ball home.

Price and Chris Mortlock were denied an equaliser by fine saves in the closing stages.

Pegasus' seventh league defeat left them third from bottom in the table with only one win from their 10 matches this season.
