WOOFFERTON maintained their lead at the top of the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division with a 2-0 home win over Lads Club.

Without ever finding their true rhythm against a hard-working, young Lads Club team, the home side secured the points with two goals in two minutes midway through the first half. Stuart Millichamp beat two players before laying the first on for Ryan Gower, and Millichamp then beat four players before thumping the ball home from distance for the second.

The rest of the game was fairly low-key but David Dimarco did rattle the Lads Club bar from close-range.

Westfields moved up into second place with a comfortable 4-1 win against city rivals Hinton at Broomy Hill.

Pawal Piniecki was involved in the first three Westfields goals. His accurate cross was fired home by Zbigniew Nowicki on 10 minutes, then moments later he had a shot deflected into the net by a Hinton defender. He finally got his own name on the scoresheet when he rounded the keeper to slot in the third.

Paul Burnham curled in a 25-yard free-kick on the stroke of half-time to put Westfields out of sight.

Hinton regrouped at half-time to turn in a far better second-half display, but their only goal was scored on the hour when Nico Bishop fired home a penalty to give him seven goals in three games.

After a stuttering start to the campaign, Wellington are now settling down and a 3-1 win at newly-promoted Colwall Rangers lifted them up the table and towards the leading pack.

The home team struggled in the first half when two goals from Eddie Wells put Wellington in control.

Colwall played much better in a more even second half and thought they were in with a shout when substitute Ryan Mitchell latched on to a through-ball from James Dean and tucked away the goal to reduce the deficit. But Nick Panniers dashed their hopes with a third goal for the visitors.

After a couple of defeats, Ewyas Harold restored some confidence with a hard fought 3-0 home victory over Ledbury Town Reserves.

Harold created a couple of chances early on but Chris Perkins and Mark Cooper were both thwarted by the Ledbury keeper. They did manage to break the deadlock before the break when Alex Winstone met a cross from John Ferneyhough and found the top corner of the net.

Perkins had a couple of efforts saved and Cooper was off target as the home team applied the pressure in the second half. Ledbury threatened little during this period but did come close to grabbing an equaliser when Joe Taylor cleared the ball off the line.

Matt Pitt came off the bench to net the second from a Ferneyhough pass. After laying on the first two goals, Ferneyhough broke clear to score the third himself.

The clash between Pegasus and Sutton United at Old School Lane finished up all-square at 1-1.

Sutton almost took the lead when they struck the bar and the ball bounced down, leaving a debate over whether it had crossed the line before being scrambled clear. Pegasus took the lead through a Steve Brotherwood penalty but, minutes later, Stuart New replied in kind to equalise.

An entertaining game ended with Sutton striking the woodwork for a second time.

Leominster Town and Fownhope picked up a point apiece when they drew 3-3 at Bridge Street Sports Centre.

Fownhope led twice but in the end were grateful for a point after battling for threequarters of the game with 10 men after having a player sent off for dissent.

Matt Goodall put the villagers one up early on but Dylan Barrington rounded off a flowing movement to send the sides in on level terms at the break. Jason Evans scored for the home side from a free-kick soon after the restart.

Fownhope turned the game around when Goodall made the most of a defensive mix-up to fire in his second, and then Jason Fry unleashed a 25-yard free kick to put them back in front. Barrington salvaged a point with his second goal to round off an entertaining game.

Kington Town went two goals up at home to Bromyard Town Reserves but the visitors struck back to grab a point in a 2-2 draw.

Kington had the better of the first half, but had to settle for a single goal lead after having a goal disallowed. Steve Dicks scored the goal with a powerful shot which the Bromyard keeper could only palm into the net before the break. James Williams stretched the lead after being sent away by Richie Bore.

Bromyard looked a lot more lively in the closing stages. They netted twice and had Kington hanging on, although the hosts did have a late penalty claim turned away.

Bartestree scored four goals in the first half at home to bottom side Weston and went on to win 5-1 to further enhance their useful position in their first season at this level.

Alan Horsfield (2), Chris Gaywood and Steve Dixon put the home side in the driving seat and Lindon Goodall had chances to further extend the match-winning position at the break. Weston pulled a goal back in the second half. This stirred Bartestree who finished on top, with Gaywood grabbing his second goal and Phil Andrews missing a late chance.

The midweek game at Wellington between Rangers and Ewyas Harold was settled 2-1 in favour of the home side by a spectacular Brad Morgan shot from the halfway line.

He picked the ball up inside his own half, noticed the Harold keeper off his line and drilled the ball forward with deadly accuracy.

After an open first half that saw chances created at both ends, Kenny Styles gave the home side the lead with a cross-cum-shot on the hour.

Harold responded immediately to the Morgan strike for the second goal, by scoring from the kick-off. Alex Winstone smashed the ball home when Tommy Taylor chipped the ball over the home defence.

Hinton moved clear of the bottom teams with a 2-1 win at Broomy Hill against Colwall Rangers. Nico Bishop netted twice for the home side and Tim Rutherford replied for the Rangers.

The other game ended in 5-2 win for Westfields at allpay.park against Bartestree. The winners' goals were scored by Wes Owen (3), Jamie Cuss and Lucas Jodba.
