WESTSIDE gained their second win in three opening matches in the West Midlands Regional League Division 2 when they beat Molineux 42-25 away from home.

The winning margin was convincing but Westside made very hard work of the match, only pulling away in the final quarter.

The Herefordshire club, who were without their goal shooter and centre, played three new players - Janine Faulkner at goal-shooter, Amy Johnstone at wing-defence and centre and Lauren Turvey at wing-defence - and all made good contributions.

Kelly Stevens, at goal-keeper, was player of the match.

n Westside juniors have made an impressive start to the Worcestershire League and remain unbeaten in their first three games.

The Under-14 and Under-16 teams played Wyre Forest at Droitwich Spa High School and came away with convincing wins of 29-11 and 22-11 respectively in their opening games with outstanding performances from TJ Henchoz (U14) and Anna Mulderrig (U16).

Evesham conceded both the following U14 and U16 games, giving Westside victories by default.

Then Westside teams returned to Droitwich Spa to play Worcester Green and came away with two more comfortable wins.

Becky Heywood and Kate Bishop were strong in centre court for the U-14s who won 25-12 and Julianne Clark's impressive shooting, combined with Natasha Davies' strength in the attacking third, helped the the U-16s to a 44-4 win.
