HEREFORD Snooker League is this season being played in one division of 16 teams.

Reigning champions Miller Boys were unable to play in the opening fixtures, so Potting Shed M took full advantage to open with a whitewash against Legionnaires. Craig Meredith got them off to a good start with a 23 break in his win, and there were debut wins also for C Evans and K Richards.

Whares The Chips stunned last season's runners-up Police 4-1. Martin Panniers had breaks of 24 and 25 in his win, while Pete Marks won on a re-spotted black to avoid the clean sweep.

Last season's bottom team Herodians started with an excellent 4-1 away win at Farmers B, Bruce Wilson being the only winner for the home side.

Lee Cartwright had a 41 break in his win for Farmers A who got the better of Potting Shed A 3-2 with further wins by Daryll Trickett and George Evans.

Neil Greening won the deciding frame as Military B beat Railway, despite earlier wins for Pat Tulk and Paul Jones, and The Reds edged out Conmen by the same score, Martin Hughes beating Alan Silcox in the last frame to seal the win.
