Bewdley Town 1 Wellington 1 WELLINGTON produced some of their best football of the season and deservedly came away from Bewdley, the clear leaders of the West Midlands League Premier Division, with a valuable point.
The game was an exciting end-to-end affair from the start, Danny Amies failing to round the keeper after latching on to a weak back pass inside the first minute. Will Perkins and Ed Wells each failed to test the keeper from good positions.
At the other end, Stuart Turpin made an excellent double save from a penalty, awarded when Lee Mussell brought down a home striker. The player made amends for his miss two minutes later when he seized on a poor clearance and gave the home side the lead.
Wellington posed problems at the start of the second half, especially through the pace of Keith Jones. He had two shots saved and was just wide of the target with another effort. He was not to be denied, latching on to a long clearance and rounding the keeper before stroking in the equaliser.
Wellington defended well against the lively home side and in spite of chances at both ends the match finished all-square.
