WELLINGTON lifted themselves on to the tail-end of the leading pack in the Hereford Times Herefordshire League Premier Division with a narrow midweek 1-0 win at allpay.park against second-placed, and hitherto unbeaten, Westfields.

Both sides had their chances in a close encounter but the crucial goal went to the visitors, Nick Panniers bursting into the area and squaring the ball for Kenny Styles to apply the finishing touch.

An inspired performance from Richie Bore led to Kington Town recording their second win of the season when they beat visiting Bartestree 3-2, with all the goals coming in the first half.

He laid on a cross for Andrew Gwynne to level the score after the visitors had gone in front, then minutes later had a cross handled allowing Gwynne to put them in front from the penalty spot.

Another ball from the wide player was turned into his own net by a defender under pressure from Gwynne, to restore the lead after Bartestree had scored a second.

Bartestree played their part in a well-contested game, Gareth Griffiths put them in front early on and Scott Tippins bagged their other goal. Both sides created half chances in the second half but their were no more goals.

Leaders Woofferton dropped two points when they were held to a 2-2 draw at Bridge Street Park by Leominster Town.

Woofferton led 2-1 at the interval but Leominster showed plenty of resilience to take a confidence boosting point when they tied the score in the second half.

Jason Evans netted from the penalty spot in the first half and Dean Jordan the second.

Stuart New netted a hat trick as Sutton maintained their challenge at the top with a comfortable win at Bromyard against the Town Reserves.

Pegasus ran out 7-1 winners at Old School Lane against struggling Weston.
