Hereford United Youth 3 Aldershot 1.
HEREFORD fought back from a goal down to claim a much-needed win in the Puma Youth Alliance Cup.
The Bulls started well and Tyler Weir and Jimmy Moreton headed wide crosses from Chris Freddi.
However, the home side’s defence was then caught napping and an Aldershot striker ran on to a through-bal to break the deadlock.
The Shots took control of the match and a fine save from goalkeeper Liam Brewer prevented the visitors from doubling their lead.
Joel Edwards fired a powerful drive narrowly wide before Hereford won a penalty before the interval and Weir levelled the scores.
Hereford improved after the break, following some harsh words from coach Gary Stevens, and Aidan Thomas almost put them in front.
Substitute Mike Evans fired wide with his first touch before Moreton went close with a header from an Evans cross.
United continued to create chances and Moreton gave his side the lead with a downward header from Ashley Stubbs’ long throw.
Chris Hyde sealed Hereford’s triumph with the home side’s third goal after good work by Weir.
