Hereford United 1 Brighton & Hove Albion 2.
HEREFORD United are on the brink of relegation from League 1 after their 10th home defeat of the season, against foot-of-the-table rivals Brighton & Hove Albion, on Tuesday evening.
The Bulls’ fate could be sealed over the Easter weekend.
On Saturday, they entertain leaders Leicester City. This game was originally all-ticket but now home supporters can pay at the gate.
United follow this up with a visit to Tranmere Rovers, who have one of the best home records in the division, on Easter Monday.
Brighton, who had not scored for 379 minutes, took the lead at Edgar Street after just nine minutes through Tom Fraser’s overhead kick.
The Seagulls extended their lead on 75 minutes when Lloyd Owusu beat goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi from 15 yards.
Hereford, who had looked a yard off the pace against their competitive opponents throughout the match, pulled a goal back in injury time.
A foul on Febian Brandy brought a penalty and, although keeper Michel Kuipers saved Steve Guinan’s spot-kick, the ball was only partially cleared for United to rebuild their attack and Kris Taylor hammered home from 20 yards.
