A PREMIER League title winner passed on his expertise to some of Herefordshire’s budding stars of the future.

Arsenal title winner was the guest of honour as Ross Juniors FC celebrated their 20th anniversary.

Hillier, who played for Arsenal, Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers and Barnet, settled in the Bristol area after his playing career finished and became a firefighter for Avon Fire and Rescue. He has since turned his hand to football coaching.

Born in London, midfielder Hillier was a product of the Arsenal academy before going on to play 143 times for the Gunners.

He then moved to Portsmouth, playing 67 matches, and Bristol Rovers (83 games) before finishing his playing career with Brentford.

Ross-on-Wye based Ross Juniors were treated to some coaching by Hillier, after Arsenal fan Paul Flitney, one of the club's 20th anniversary organisers, got in touch with The Dave Kitson Academy - where Hillier is on the coaching team along with former Premier League players Dave Kitson and James Harper.

Hillier teamed up with Hereford FC youngster Mark Derricott to provide two fun coaching sessions for Ross Juniors FC's 7-14 year olds at Ross Sports Centre.

Flitney said: "We booked David Hillier for the Ross Juniors 20th anniversary event. Our kids and parents could not believe David would be coaching our young players.

"David was superb. He was professional and very personable, the coaching was fantastic and everyone had a fantastic time. The kids really enjoyed it.

"To have someone like David with all his footballing achievements at Arsenal visiting our grassroots club was just brilliant."
