BARTESTREE and Lugwardine Cricket Club held their Senior Presentation Evening recently, which for the first time included the awards for our very successful Women's Softball Cricket section.
Club Chairman Nigel Shore introduced the evening with a quick review of what has been another brilliant year for the club at all levels.
The firsts achieved the key goal of retaining their place in Division 1, with Australian Ed Milner making a great contribution.
The seconds had a tough year, with availability problems, and next year will see a big focus on gaining promotion.
The thirds were just pipped to the Marches Division 3 title - this time they will take the promotion.
The Juniors were excellent at all levels, with the under-15s winning their league.
And the Women's Softball section grew in numbers and skills, training all year round, with the Bartestree Ladies team having some successful matches.
Looking forward, Shore emphasised the importance of "sustainability" in all departments as being the key to success.
Long term the club are aiming to produce their own top-level cricketers in order to stay at their current level or progress.
